I am a graduate of the Massage Therapy Program at MacEwan University. Thanks to my time at MacEwan University I have a large toolbox of techniques at my disposal such as Relaxation (Swedish), Therapeutic, Pre/Postnatal, and Sports Massage, along with Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD), Joint Mobilizations, Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) / Muscle Energy Technique (MET).
I can also recommend home care plans – to help you take care of yourself in between treatments.
Assessment is part of a normal course of treatment, which may include: Reflex testing, Dermatome and Myotome testing (testing nerve supply to skin and muscle), Isotonic and Isometric muscle testing, range of motion (ROM) active and/or passive.
A common theme among massage therapists is a desire to help people from an early age. I was drawn to massage as a way to help people and the program at MacEwan University really focussed that desire. I came to understand how much of an impact massage can have on people’s lives.
Massage therapy can be effective at not only treating physical issues but also potentially improving mental health.
Consent is a key component in my approach to massage, I believe that everyone deserves to feel safe and have a voice in their treatment with the guidance of a massage therapist to help achieve their goals.
My goal with every patient is to alleviate pain, offer education on when to seek treatment, and to help people help themselves between treatment to encourage autonomy.
